Invitation-only meeting seeks applicants to help shape national disability policy; apply by Oct. 15
People with disabilities have an opportunity in 2010 to help develop recommendations that will shape national disability policy and programs for the next decade.
The National Summit on Disability Policy, sponsored by the National Council on Disability (NCD), will be held in Washington, D.C., from July 25-27. It’s a by-invitation-only meeting, and people who hope to participate must submit an application to attend no later than Oct. 15, 2009.
NCD is seeking participants with experience in disability-related areas such as employment, transportation, housing, education, emergency preparedness and more. The agency hopes to attract delegates with disabilities of all types, from all parts of the country, from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and with varying life experience (for example, veterans, youth and employers).
Delegate hopefuls can obtain and submit an application form online at http://www.neweditions.net/ncd2010/nomform.aspx. General information, including details on how to submit applications in other ways, is available via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (866) 538-9521.
NCD is also offering a limited number of scholarships to the summit that will cover hotel costs and provide pro-rated per diem amounts to assist with the cost of meals not included as part of the summit. Delegates will be responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the meeting. Scholarships will be awarded upon request after the selection of delegates is complete.
