Income tax deductions for people with disabilities
The Internal Revenue Service provides a wide array of information about deductions for individuals and families affected by disability.
One way of accessing these materials is to simply visit the IRS website and type "disability" in the search box. You’ll find links to numerous publications relating to disability deductions.
If you find that a bit overwhelming, you may want to access a more user friendly brochure, "Living and Working with Disabilities: Tax Benefits and Credits (Publication 3966)."
Presenting basic information about tax credits and benefits available to taxpayers with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities, it also lists many publications and forms that will help you take advantage of various tax credits and benefits.
