
Jacob Gapko has compiled the first-ever bibliography of books about young people with muscular dystrophy, with help from a Carnegie-Whitney Award from the American Library Association.

Gapko, 32, lives in Eau Claire, Wis., and is a Ph.D. student in library and information studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Gapko also authored an opinion column for the Spring 2010 issue of Quest magazine, “Why We Need Books about People Like Me.”
